4. Action Plan
• Wildflower meadow – The area is still developing but 13 different wildflowers were identified growing there this year. The final cut is due and after that the grass must be raked off. The stored Yellow Rattle seed can then be sown. Seeded turf will be purchased in the Spring to try to increase the variety of plants there. Action PB
• Trees – The new Plane tree has struggled but all the other new trees look healthy. Cleaning the bark of the multi stemmed Betula is still needed. Action PB
• School bed – The section next to Sandy Lane has been further improved by a layer of composted bark, thanks to Abdulnaser, and regular weeding. Action TA/JB
More Phlox donated by TH have been planted and the rest of the composted bark was applied to suppress weeds in the central area. Action PB/TH
• Wet beds – The weeding and thinning is continuing. Action TH
• Centre bed – Regular maintenance has continued to remove weeds and make more of the original plants visible. Action PB/JB/MA/BC
• Optician’s bed – Regular work has continued and the bed looks tidier. The Hebe near the road and the geraniums have been cut back. The Bamboo will need thinning out soon. PR/AG/MA
• Compstall Rd – There was discussion as to how to improve the border. TH suggested splitting some of the clumps of plants in the school bed and creating a similar effect with block planting. Discussion will continue at the next meeting. Action All
• Carlton Ave – The house owner that took down a tree to access their garden from the park will fund another in compensation. Action PB/ J Headlam
